Privacy Policy for KhmerLens
KhmerLens ("we", "our", or "us") provides document scanning, optical character recognition (OCR), PDF tools, document management, optional cloud processing, and related productivity features. This policy explains how information is processed when you use the KhmerLens mobile application.
Information you provide
- Account information: When you choose Google Sign-In, Firebase Authentication may receive your name, email address, Google profile information, and a user identifier. KhmerLens may also create an anonymous Firebase account so that limited features can work before sign-in.
- Documents and content: Scanned images, imported images, PDFs, OCR text, document titles, and metadata are normally stored and processed on your device.
- Optional cloud processing: Cloud OCR, high-accuracy extraction, translation, AI analysis, and server-based document conversion require the applicable feature and privacy choice. Selected images, files, or text are then transmitted over encrypted connections to our Firebase backend and relevant Google processing services, which may include Cloud Vision or Gemini.
Information collected automatically
Depending on your settings and the features you use, KhmerLens and its service providers may process:
- Device type, operating-system version, language, app version, network information, IP address, and device or app identifiers.
- App launches, screen views, feature interactions, advertising interactions, and performance measurements.
- Crash reports, error information, and diagnostics when crash reporting is enabled.
- Firebase installation, authentication, App Check, and notification tokens used for security, account access, abuse prevention, and app functionality.
Advertising
KhmerLens uses Google Mobile Ads (AdMob) to display advertisements and support the free version of the app. Google Mobile Ads may collect and share an IP address, app interactions, diagnostic information, and device or account identifiers, including the Android Advertising ID when available, for advertising, measurement, analytics, and fraud prevention. Advertising may be personalized only when permitted by applicable law and your consent choices.
You can review or withdraw available advertising consent choices from Settings > Privacy Settings > Ad privacy choices. Your device also provides controls for advertising identifiers and tracking.
Analytics and diagnostics
Firebase Analytics, Firebase Performance Monitoring, and Firebase Crashlytics help us understand feature usage, performance, and errors. You can manage analytics and crash-diagnostic collection from Settings > Privacy Settings. We do not intentionally include OCR text, document contents, or personal-document information in analytics events.

- Provide, secure, and improve KhmerLens features.
- Authenticate accounts and enforce feature limits.
- Process optional cloud OCR, AI, and document-conversion requests.
- Diagnose crashes and performance problems.
- Display, measure, and protect advertisements.
- Prevent abuse, fraud, and unauthorized access.
Service providers
- Google Firebase: Authentication, App Check, Cloud Functions, Cloud Storage, analytics, performance monitoring, crash reporting, notifications, and configuration. Google Privacy Policy.

Retention and deletion
Local documents and OCR results remain on your device until you delete them or remove the app. Temporary conversion files and cloud-processing records are retained only as needed to provide, secure, and operate the requested service. Provider analytics, diagnostic, security, and advertising records follow the applicable provider retention settings.
You can permanently delete your KhmerLens account and user-scoped data from Settings > Privacy Settings > Delete All Local Data. For complete instructions and retention exceptions, see Account and Data Deletion. Anonymous accounts inactive for 60 days may be removed automatically.
Your choices and rights
Privacy Settings provide controls for analytics, crash diagnostics, personalized advertising, cloud AI processing, data export, and account deletion. Depending on your location, you may also have rights to access, correct, delete, restrict, or object to processing of personal data, request portability, or withdraw consent.
Security and international processing
We use HTTPS/TLS, authenticated access controls, and server-side authorization checks to protect transmitted information. No storage or transmission method is completely secure. Service providers may process information outside your country subject to applicable safeguards.
Children
KhmerLens is intended for users aged 13 and older and is not directed to children under 13. If we learn that a child under 13 provided personal information, we will take steps to delete it.
Changes
We may update this policy as KhmerLens or legal requirements change. The updated effective date will be shown at the top of this page.
